Honey bees
The ubiquitous honey bee we take most bees for is not actually native to North America: it was introduced by colonists about four hundred years ago. Very remarkable for their complex social structures, with individuals belonging to different castes taking on very different physical forms, and for building large wax hives for shelter.
Honey bees are economically important for their honey, obviously, but also for their role as pollinators.
